DESCRIPTION:\nStuart Orme is currently the curator at The Cromwell Museum, Huntingdon.\nThe popular image of medicine in the late Middle Ages was that it was barbarous and unsophisticated, consisting of amputations and leeches. The reality was much more complex, with a patchwork of different medical solutions and cures, some of which were highly advanced for their time. This talk looks at some of those cures, the medical professionals of the period and surgical techniques, including replica instruments. Fascinating but not for the squeamish!\nDoors open at 7pm at Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding. Lecture starts 7.30pm. Entry £5, full time students free.\n
