DESCRIPTION:The Civil War in Lincolnshire in 1643\n \nFriday 27th November 2026\n7.30pm (doors open at 7pm) \nIn 1642, the Civil Wars erupted, and Cambridgeshire MP Oliver Cromwell found himself a junior cavalry officer in Parliament’s army at the age of 43. How did a man with no military experience become one of the greatest soldiers of his time?\nThis talk looks at Cromwell’s first campaign across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, and how this experience formed him as a soldier.\nSpeaker: Stuart Orme, from the Cromwell Museum. Stuart is also a Trustee of the Huntingdonshire History Festival, a committee member of the Huntingdonshire History Society, and ex-officio member of the council of the Cromwell Association.\nVenue: Broad Street Methodist Church, Broad Street, Spalding PE11 1TB\nAdmission: £5 per person.
